Sair-e-Gul-Faroshan is celebrated in the capital Delhi. The festival is also known as "Phool Walon Ki Sair" and is the third annual Flower Day celebration to be held in Delhi. It is a public symbol when the procession of a palm leaf fan or fan with flowers taken from the tomb of Khwaja Bakhtiyar Kaki in Mehrauli in the temple of Yogmaya is huge. The festival was first honored by the Mughal Emperor Akbar II (19th century). It was banned by the British but was reinstated by JL Nehru in 1962.
