Qutub Minar, located in Mehrauli, South Delhi, India, is the tallest brick tower in the world at 72.5 m (237.86 ft) with a diameter of 14.3 m. It has 379 steps and features Indian art dating back to 1192. UNESCO designated it a World Heritage Site. Construction began in 1193 by Qutbuddin Aibak, with additions by Iltutmish and completion by Firoz Shah Tughlaq in 1368. It has Parso-Arabic and Nagari inscriptions and was restored by Major Robert Smith in 1828 after surviving an 1803 earthquake.
