Notes: Maurya dynasty used the silver coin, Pann as their Standard currency. The coins of Mauryan empire were cut and clipped for proper weight and adjustments. The coins were of different geometrical shapes like round, oval or elliptical with one symbol. After sometime, the number of  symbols were increased. Symbols were of geometrical of floral patterns like hills, birds, animals, human figures etc. A particular symbol represented a particular place or area. Silver coins were found in four denominations: pana, ardha-pana, pada and asta-bhaga or ardhapadika.
