Q. New species of skink was found from Western Ghats. What is a skink?
Answer:
Reptile
Notes: During the South Asian Reptile Red List Assessment organised by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), a team of researchers have discovered a new species, the Asian gracile skink.
Named Subdoluseps nilgiriensis, after the Nilgiris region, the reptile has a tiny body of just about 7 cm and it is sandy brown in colour. This is only the third skink species discovered from India in the last millennium.
