The Swaraj Party was formed on 9 January 1923 by members of the Indian National Congress who opposed Gandhi's suspension of the Non-Cooperation Movement on 5 February, 1922 and got disillusioned with his strategy and political insights. Its co-founders were Chittaranjan Das, Motilal Nehru, Vithalbhai Patel (Vallabhbhai’s elder brother), Narasimha Chintaman Kelkar etc. Henceforth, two groups in congress appared viz. Swarajists (pro- changers) and No-changers (supporters of Mahatma Gandhi).,
