Notes: Saunders severely beat Lala Lajpat Roy when he was agitating against the Simon commission. Lala Lajpat Roy died on 17th November 1928. The death of Lala Lajpat Rai in the brutal police lathi-charge was avenged by Shahid Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Jai Gopal and Sukhdev by killing Assistant Superintendent of Police JP Saunders in Lahore on 17 December 1928.
