September 1920 to April 1922
Though Non-Cooperation Movement was announced formally on 1 August, 1920, it was agreed to by the Indian National Congress at Calcutta in September 1920 and launched in December 1920. Gandhi called off the movement in February1922 in the wake of the Chauri Chaura incident in which a violent mob set fire to a police station killing 22 policemen.
