The Dhal Revolt lasted from 1767 to 1777, totaling 10 years. It was led by Raja Jagannath Dhal of Dhalbhum against the British East India Company. The revolt began after British forces attacked Singhbhum due to refusal of company conditions. British officers Ferguson, Lieutenant Rook, and Charles Megan failed to suppress it. In 1777, the British reinstated Raja Jagannath Dhal as king under an agreement for annual tax payments.
