Notes: The Prime Minister of India will launch the newly revamped National Manuscripts Mission, now called the Gyan Bharatam Mission, on June 9, 2025. The Gyan Bharatam Mission is a national initiative by the Ministry of Culture to protect and preserve India’s ancient manuscript heritage. It updates the earlier National Mission for Manuscripts (NMM), started in 2003 under the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA). The mission aims to survey, document, conserve, and digitize over one crore manuscripts from libraries, museums, institutions, and private collections. It also aims to build a National Digital Repository of Indian Knowledge Systems for global access.
