Gandhi-Irwin Pact was signed on March 5, 1931 in London. The agreement was signed by Mahatma Gandhi and Lord Irwin, the Viceroy of India at the time. The pact was signed before the Second Round Table Conference.
The pact was a political agreement between the two parties. The proposed conditions were that the Indian National Congress would stop the civil disobedience movement. Gandhi agreed to end the movement and join the Second Round Table Conference.
Gandhi was released from Yerevan Jail on January 26, 1931 to negotiate with Irwin. The two had eight meetings in 24 hours.
