Notes: The Union Government recently assured that Bhoj Wetland in Bhopal is not at risk of losing its Ramsar site status. It is located in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. It consists of two contiguous human made reservoirs, Upper Lake (Bhojtal) and Lower Lake (Chhota Talaab). The Upper Lake provides drinking water for Bhopal and is surrounded by a Van Vihar national park, human settlements, and farmland. The wetland is rich in biodiversity, with over 15 fish species and vulnerable species like turtles and amphibians. It was designated a Ramsar site in 2002.
