Hazaribagh, Giridih, Dhanbad
The Barakar River originates near Padma in Hazaribagh district, Jharkhand. It flows across the northern Chota Nagpur plateau for 225 km. The river skirts the northern portion of Parasnath Hills in Giridih district. It reaches Maithon dam in Dhanbad district before joining the Damodar River near Dishergarh in West Bengal. The Barakar River forms the boundary between Jharkhand and West Bengal near Dhanbad.
