Mr. Pankaj Mishra: Indian author won Windham Campbell Literature Prize 2014

Screenshot_3 Indian author Mr. Pankaj Mishra won the prestigious Donald Windham Campbell Literature prize 2014 in the non-fiction category. The awards are announced by The Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library at YaleUniversity.
Mr. Mishra Mishra is an Indian essayist, memoirist, travel writer and novelist whose work expands our understanding of the encounter between Western and Non-western culture.
Besides the novel, The Romantics, he has published four works of non-ﬁction: Butter Chicken in Ludhiana: Travels in Small TownIndia, An End to Suﬀering: the Buddha in the World, Temptations of the West: How to Be Modern in India, Pakistan, Tibet, and Beyond and From the Ruins of Empire: The Intellectuals Who Remade Asia.
2014 prizewinners of Donald Windham Campbell Literature Prize in

Fiction: Aminatta Forna (Sierra Leone), Nadeem Aslam (Pakistan), and Jim Crace (United Kingdom);
Non-fiction: Pankaj Mishra (India) and John Vaillant (United States/Canada);
Drama: Kia Corthron (United States), Sam Holcroft (United Kingdom) and No lle Janaczewska (Australia).

The winners in the three categories viz. fiction, non-fiction and drama will receive a citation and an unrestricted award of $150,000 each in recognition of their achievements and to support their ongoing work at a ceremony at Yale University on September 15, 2014.
