The Shivamogga Airport was recently inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi in Karnataka. During his visit, Prime Minister also laid foundation stone for two railway projects -Shikaripura-Ranebennur new Railway line and Koteganguru Railway coaching depot.
The Shivamogga Airport was built at a cost of Rs.450 crore. It will help boost the accessibility and connectivity of Shivamogga and other neighbouring areas in the Malnad region.

India has provided a grant of Rs 2 Billion to Bhutan for the Gyalsung Infra Project. The project aims to empower the youth of Bhutan and build a strong foundation for the country’s future.
The first tranche of the grant of Rs 1 Billion was presented recently by the Indian Ambassador to Bhutan. The grant is in addition to India’s commitment to provide planning assistance of Rs.50 Billion to Bhutan.

Defender of the Fatherland Day is celebrated in Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Belarus.
Except for Kazakhstan, other countries observe this day on February 23. Kazakhstan observes this day on May 7. Ukraine abolished this holiday in 1992. Defender of the Fatherland Day is observed since 1919 to commemorate the first mass draft into the Red Army during the Russian Civil War. It is now a state holiday in Russia.

PARAKH, India’s first national assessment regulator, aims to standardize assessment for over 60 boards in the country.
ETS (Educational Testing Service), which conducts key tests like TOEFL and GRE, has been chosen by the National Council for Education Research (NCERT) to set up the regulatory platform PARAKH. PARAKH will establish norms, standards, and guidelines for student assessment and evaluation.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has recently launched a new security mechanism for Aadhaar-based fingerprint authentication.
UIDAI is a statutory body that was established by the Indian Government in January 2009. It comes under the aegis of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

Tunel Wielki, situated in Poland’s Ojców National Park, is an archaeological site located in the karst area.
It has 15 layers in 4.5-meter-deep sediments that provide evidences of early prehistorical cultures, the Middle Ages, and the 19th century. Recently, the oldest known flint tools were discovered in Tunel Wielki cave.

The first B2B Global Conference & Expo on Traditional Medicine under the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) will be hosted by Assam.
The event which seeks to promote traditional medicines at the global level. The event will be held in Guwahati.

The SWAMIH Investment Fund is a social impact fund designed to provide debt financing for stalled and RERA-registered residential projects.
Managed by SBICAP Ventures Ltd, the Fund is sponsored by the Union Ministry of Finance. The Fund has provided final approval to nearly 130 projects worth around Rs 12,000 crore, and has raised Rs 15,530 crore to date.

The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has launched the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) in 57 Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) throughout India.
This flagship initiative is launched under NEP 2020. It offers a 4-year dual-major undergraduate degree program, preparing teachers for the 4 stages of the new school structure.

Notes:
The BrahMos missile is a type of supersonic cruise missile that can be launched from submarines, ships, airplanes, or land.
It is currently the fastest supersonic missile in the world and was developed by a partnership between India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Russia’s NPO Mashinostroyeniya, forming BrahMos Aerospace. Recently, Indian Navy successfully test fired the ship-launched version of the BrahMos missile.
