India, Russia put off meet by two months to resolve issues

image India and Russia have postponed their high-level engagement planned for November 1, 2012 by almost two months in order to reach conformity on some debatable military and civil issues.

What are the main issues?

Major issues:

  • Stalemate over liability provisions for units three and four of the Kudankulam power project
  • Controversy over the cancellation of 2G spectrum licences, which impacted Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited, a subsidiary of Russia’s AFK Sistema group.
  • Russia has not yet cleared how much time it will take to eliminate major deficiencies that came out during the recent sea trials of INS Vikramaditya.
