Himachal Pradesh to launch an Active Case Finding Campaign for COVID-19 patients
The government of Himachal Pradesh is to launch an Active Case Finding Campaign to look for people affected by COVID-19.
About the Campaign
Himachal Pradesh is to launch the ACF campaign to step up the efforts to contain the COVID-19 outbreak. The health workers will collect health information of every individual and share it with the department through Google. The information gathering exercise would be conducted every day between 9AM and 4PM. They will also be providing information about the disease to the people at their doorstep.
The ASHA workers would be employed in conducting this exercise. ASHA or Accredited Social Health Activists are interfaces between the community and the health system. They are trained female health activists who constitute the grass-root level personnel of the public health system.
Types of Surveillance
In general, there are 2 types of disease surveillance- passive case detection and active case detection. In passive case detection, the patients seek healthcare from the clinicians for their illness. In case of active case detection, the healthcare workers systematically screen the community to detect cases.
