Bihar overtakes Gujarat as the fastest growing state in India

As per Planning Commission data, Bihar has left Gujarat behind in terms of growth as it emerged as the fastest growing state in the country with figure of 10.9%. Gujarat was overtaken by 5 states Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Maharashtra and Orissa.
As per data:

Bihar’s growth was slowest during 2001-05 with GDP figure of 2.9%.
The state grew at 10.9% b/w 2006 and 2010, turning into the fastest growing state and shedding the tag of BIMARU (an acronym for sick states).
Gujarat grew as fastest growing state b/w 2001 and 2005 with 11% GDP. However its growth curve dipped during 2006 and 2010 to 9.3% and was overtaken by Bihar and four other states Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Maharashtra and Orissa.
Chhattisgarh grew from 7.7% in 2001-05 to 10% growth in 2006-10.
Haryana grew from 8.4% to 9.7%
Maharashtra from 8.2% to 9.6%
Orissa from 7.8% to 9.4%.
Average GDP growth of top five states was 9.10% in 11th five year plan, up from 7% in 10th plan and 5% in 9th plan.
Lowest ranking five states also registered a considerable average growth, with figures of 8.58% in 11th plan as compared to 6.76% in 10th plan and 4.12% in 9th plan.
The average consumption in rural area increased by 300% during the period b/w 2004-05 and 2011-12

In the 12^th Five Year Plan, Integrated Child Development Service (ICDS) will be the biggest receiverwith Rs.1,08,503 crore, which is an increase of around 396%.
The allocation for National Health Mission will be Rs.250,000 crore in the 12th plan, which shows a 278% increase over 11^th plan.
