Micro Irrigation Fund Current Affairs, GK & News
The ministry of agriculture and farmers welfare had created a micro irrigation fund (MIF) under NABARD in 2018-19 to promote micro-irrigation. It was created with a corpus of 5,000 crore INR to aid the states in incentivising the adoption of micro-irrigation practice by the farmers under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana. The centre provides 3% interest subvention on loans under MIF to the states. The recent budget has proposed the doubling of the initial corpus with another 5,000 crore INR.
On November 20, 2020, Government of India sanctioned a loan of 3,971 crores of rupees for micro irrigation projects in Tamil Nadu.
