Benefits

The youth in the rural regions of India face hurdles while seeking better life due to lack of required skills and formal education. The scheme bridges this gap by training the youths to the global standards.

Importance

The National Policy for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in 2015 predicted that there will be a skill gap of 109.73 million in 24 key sectors by 2022. Thus, it is essential for DDU-GKY to bridge the gap. It has played a major role in Atma Nirbhar Bharat by providing required skilled labours. Also, it supported the Skill India campaign by supporting its social and economic programmes.

Working of DDU-GKY

The scheme funds the private education experts to start modern, advanced and well-equipped training centres. The trainers will then provide job-oriented training to the youths. After completion of the training, the students are also provided with study materials, uniforms and free books. There are certain centres that provide food and accommodation free of cost along with the training. In non-residential training centres, one meal per day and to and fro expenses are provided free of cost.

Antyodaya Diwas
