The Women Entrepreneurship Day (WEP) is observed on November 19. It is observed in 144 countries. The first Women Entrepreneurship Day was observed in 2014.

Who organises Women Entrepreneurship Day?

The Women Entrepreneurship Day is organised by Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Organisation. It is non – racial, non – governmental and non – political organisation. The organisation works to bring the girls and women out of poverty. It was started by Wendy Diamond.

What SDGs does Women Entrepreneurship Day support?

The WEP supports six Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They are as follows:

  • Goal 10: Reducing inequalities
  • Goal 8: Economic growth through decent works
  • Goal 5: Gender Equality
  • Goal 4: Quality Education
  • Goal 1: No Poverty

What is the aim of Women Entrepreneurship Day?

The WEP aims to support women in business. It mainly supports women who are under represented as founders. Also, the WEP aims to bring awareness and empowerment to more than four billion women in the world.

Why is it important to celebrate Women Entrepreneurship Day?

Gender inequality is the major effect and cause of poverty. Around 60% of the hungry people in the world are women and children. Women make up 43% of agricultural labour force. Unfortunately, less than 20% of landowners are women. Only 39% of rural girls are literate.
