Recently, the Odisha Government has launched Anwesha scheme to provide free education to SC/ST students from remote areas in urban area public schools. As per the scheme, every year 5000 children from backward castes will pursue quality education in leading English medium schools. In the first phase, the scheme will be operational in 17 tribal-dominated districts of Odisha. The state government will bear all expenses of the children like school fees, uniform, books, hostel, transportation, etc. In future, the facility will be extended to two lakh more students.
