Zafar Khan took the title "Ala-ud-Din Hasan Bahman Shah". He died in 1358. He was succeeded by his son Mohammed Shah I. Bahmani Sultanate was a Persianate Muslim empire of the Deccan in South India. It was the first independent Muslim kingdom of the Deccan. Gulbarga and Bidar were the capitals of the Bahmani empire. Persian was the official language.
