Notes: Prabhat Kumar served as Jharkhand's first Governor from 15 November 2000 to 3 February 2002. Jharkhand was formed by bifurcating Bihar on 15 November 2000. Prabhat Kumar was a 1963-batch IAS officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre. He was also the Cabinet Secretary of India from 1998 to 2000. Subsequent governors included Rama Jois (2002-2003), Ved Marwah (2003-2004), and Syed Sibte Razi (2004-2009).
