Notes: Sir Muhammad Saleh Akbar Hydari was the last British-appointed Governor of Assam and served post-independence until December 1948. Sri Prakasa succeeded him as the second Governor in February 1949. Gopinath Bordoloi was the first Chief Minister of Assam after independence, not Governor. Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed later became Governor of Assam but was not the first after independence.
