Notes: Dr. VKRV Rao was the first to adopt a scientific procedure in the estimation of national income in 1931. The Government of India appointed the National Income Committee in 1949. The committee was headed by Prof. PC Mahalanobis and Prof. Dr. Gadgil and Dr. V.K.R.V. Rao is a member. The first report of the committee was presented in 1951. National Income Estimates are being prepared by the Central Statistical Organization since 1955.
