Notes: Bismillah Khan was the first classical musician form Bihar to won the Bharat Ratna. Ustad Bismillah Khan was born on 21 March 1916 in Dumraon (Bihar). His Childhood name was Amiruddin Khan. His father was a court musician employed in the Dumraon palace by the Raja of Bhojpur. His great grandfather Ustad Salar Hussain Khan and grandfather Rasool Baksh Khan were also musicians in the Dumraon palace. Ustad Bismillah Khan popularized a subcontinental wind instrument called 'Shehnai'. He was awarded India’s highest civilian honour "Bharat Ratna" in 2001. He was the third classical musician of India and first classical musician of Bihar to won Bharat Ratna.
