The All India Home Rule League was launched by Annie Besant on September 1916. The league had to work in all India except Maharastra and Central Provinces. The objectives of this league were same as the Indian Home rule league formed by Bal Gangadhar Tilak in April 1916. These were – a) To establish self- government. b) To build up an agitation for home rule by promoting political education and discussion. c) To build the confidence of the Indians against the suppression of the British government and to create an alternative movement to break the existing state of stagnation and the inertia. d) To revive the political activity on their own while maintaining the principles of congress. To demand for greater political representation from the British government. e) To demand for greater political representation from the British government.
