Pandit Raghunath Murmu
Pandit Raghunath Murmu invented the Ol Chiki script in 1925 for the Santali language. It was first publicized in 1939 at the Mayurbhanj State exhibition. Murmu was a Santali scholar from Dandbose village, now in Odisha near Jharkhand. The script was created to accurately represent Santali sounds, which previous scripts like Devanagari and Bengali could not. Santali became a scheduled language in 2003, recognized with the Ol Chiki script.
