Nandshankar Mehta
The first formal teachers’ training institution in Gujarat was the Surat Teachers’ Training College, and its early leadership was shaped by Nandshankar Mehta, who served as its principal until 1867. In 1858, Nandshankar Mehta was appointed as the first Indian headmaster and later became principal of the Surat Teachers’ Training College, holding the position until 1867 .
