Notes: Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata (J.N. Tata) planned an industrial township at Sakchi village, Jharkhand, in 1902 for Tata Steel. Tata Iron and Steel Company was incorporated in 1907. After J.N. Tata's death in 1904, his sons completed the plant and township. In 1919, Viceroy Lord Chelmsford renamed the area Jamshedpur in his honor. The railway station in the city is named Tatanagar.
