The Hapamuni Mandir in Ghaghara, Gumla District, was built originally in 908 CE by Gajghat Rai. In 1401 CE, Nagvanshi king Shivadas Karan installed the Vishnu idol there as per a Sanskrit inscription. The temple was notable for a visit by Chaitanya Mahaprabhu around 1485 CE. It underwent damage during the Kol Rebellion between 1931 and 1933. Shivadas Karan's contribution to the temple is recorded in historical inscriptions from the region.
