Notes: Baba Dyal Das founded the Nirankari sect in Punjab in 1851. This Sikh reform movement opposed ritualism and emphasized belief in a formless God (Nirankar) and living Gurus. The sect originated near Rawalpindi and later spread to Indian Punjab after partition in 1947.
