Notes: The Karnat dynasty of Mithila was founded by Nanyadeva in 1097 CE. He was of South Indian origin, once a Chalukya commander, and became independent after the Pala decline. The Karnats patronized Maithili literature and philosophy, and ruled till Harisimhadeva fled in 1324 CE.
