Red Fort, built by Shah Jahan (1639-1648) in Shahjahanabad (Old Delhi), showcases Persian, Timurid, and Indian architecture. It housed the Peacock Throne and Koh-i-Noor diamond. The fort's walls extend over 2 km and include the Lahori Gate. It was the Mughal emperors' residence until 1857, when Bahadur Shah II was deposed. The fort hosted the first Indian National Army trials (1945-46).
