Notes: Shridhar Vasudeva Sohoni was appointed as the first Lokayukta of Bihar. He was an eminent scholar of Sanskrit, and a noted antiquarian and numismatist. He was an officer in the Indian Civil Service and later served as the Chief Secretary of Bihar, Lokayukta of Bihar, and the Vice-Chancellor of Lalit Narayan Mithila University and Tilak Maharashtra University. He was the Lokayukta of Bihar from 28-05-1973 to 27-05-1978. Lokayukta is an is an anti-corruption ombudsman organization in the Indian states. After the appointment, Lokayukta can not be dismissed nor transferred by the government, and can only be removed by passing an impeachment motion by the state assembly.
