The Naikdas Revolt (1858 & 1859) took place in the present-day state of Gujarat, India. The Naikdas forest tribe from the Panchamahal Hills waged a rebellion against the British expansionist policies and interferences. The uprising was led by leaders like Rup Singh and Joria Bhagath with an aim to eradicate the British and establish Dharma-Raj. This rebellion was further intensified by the joining of Vilayatis under the leadership of a matchlock man. The rebellion was finally quelled in 1859 following the surrender of the rebel leaders.
