Hazaribagh Wildlife Sanctuary
Hazaribagh Wildlife Sanctuary in Jharkhand was declared in 1955. It covers 184 km² of low hilly terrain north of Ranchi at 615 meters altitude. It hosts tiger, leopard, sloth bear, sambar, nilgai, chital, wild boar, hyena, and peafowl species. The sanctuary was managed as a protected area from 1955 and legally notified as a sanctuary in 1976. There are no records of Ramgarh, Palamu, or Deoghar sanctuaries being declared in 1955.
