Alha and Udal are legendary heroes linked to the Banjara (Banaphar) clan. They belonged to a mixed Ahir and Rajput descent from the period of Chandel king Parmal. These warriors are known for their skills in archery and swordsmanship and fought against Prithviraj Chauhan in 1182 CE. In Jharkhand, the Banjara tribe venerates Alha-Udal, differentiating their tradition from the Santhal, Munda, and Mahali tribes.
