Notes: Mohammad Ghori was the first to introduce the Iqta system in India in 1206 AD. C., but it was lltutmish who gave it an institutional form. Qutbuddin Aibak was assigned as the first iqta of India by Mohammed Ghori.  The Iqtadari system went through numerous changes during the sultanate period. Originally, Iqta was a productive land that was given instead of a salary. However, it became hereditary during the reign of Firuz Shah Tughlaq in 1351 AD.
