Notes: Alarkalam Ashram was the first place visited by Gautam Buddha after he left his home. Alarkalam Ashram was situated in Vaishali. It was the Ashram of a teacher named Alara Kalama. Alara Kalamaa was a hermit and a teacher of ancient meditation. He was the master of Shraman thought. He is considered as the first teacher of Gautama Buddha according to Pali Canon scriptures.
