Right to property as no longer a Fundamental Right
The 44th amendment act was passed in 1978 by the Morarji Desai government. Property ceased to be a fundamental right. It also said that right to property under article 31 of the Constitution is removed from the fundamental rights. It would, however, be given express recognition as a legal right. The provision being made that no person shall be deprived of his property.
