During the Rule of the Mughal Empire, the officer-in-charge of the royal household and royal karkhanas was Mir Saman. He was also responsible for all kinds of purchases, manufacturing of different articles for the use, and their storage for the royal household. Only those nobles who enjoyed the complete confidence of the emperor were appointed to this office. The maintenance of etiquette at the court, the control of the royal bodyguard, etc., were all under the supervision of Mir Saman.
