Bahlol Lodhi (r. 1451–88 AD) founded the Lodhi dynasty as the first Afghan Sultan of Delhi. A Pashtun chieftain, he expanded his territory by annexing Jaunpur and introduced iqta (land grants) to loyal followers, strengthening his rule and establishing Afghan dominance in North India for his successors, Sikander and Ibrahim Lodhi.
