Akbar introduced the Mansabdari system, assigning ranks (mansab) from 10 to 5,000 to officers (Mansabdars). Inspired by Persian practices, it integrated military and administration. Mansabdars were paid in cash (naqd) or land revenue (jagir). The system featured dual ranks: zat (personal) and sawar (cavalry), dictating cavalryman maintenance.
