Kodagu district in Karnataka accounts for about 45% of India's coffee production. It is the leading coffee-producing region in India. Chikmagalur district produces around 20-25% and Hassan about 5% of the total coffee output. Kodagu is also known as Coorg and is famous for its coffee plantations since the 17th century.
