Panchayati Raj decentralization
Ramakrishna Hegde, Chief Minister of Karnataka in the 1980s, introduced Panchayati Raj decentralization to empower local bodies. Karnataka under his leadership became a model for grassroots democratic governance. His reforms emphasized transparency and public participation and influenced the 73rd and 74th Constitutional Amendments on Panchayati Raj institutions.
