Danakil Depression is a geographical depression formed due to the divergence of three tectonic plates in the Horn of Africa located in the northern part of the Afar Triangle in Ethiopia. This area is often referred to as the cradle of humanity. This area is the hottest place on Earth in terms of year-round average temperatures. It is also one of the lowest places on the planet and without rain for most of the year.
