An Indian to be appointed as law member in the Governor General in Council
The Charter Act of 1833 was also known as Saint Helena Act. It is an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. The first law commission of India was set up under the act and Lord Macaulay was its Chairman. The Indian Councils Act 1909 empowered the Governor General to nominate one Indian member to the Executive Council. Satyendra Prasanna Sinha was as the first Indian member.
