The Chota Nagpur Plateau is situated in the north-eastern part of the peninsular plateau. It spans mainly Jharkhand, northern Chhattisgarh, and Purulia district of West Bengal. It lies east of the Baghelkhand Plateau and is bounded by the Ganga and Son basins to the north. The plateau’s average elevation is about 700 meters. Important rivers like the Damodar and Son flow through this plateau.
