The Swarna Rekha River originates near Nagri village in Ranchi district, Jharkhand at about 600 m elevation. It flows eastward through Jharkhand into West Bengal and Odisha before reaching the Bay of Bengal. The river is approximately 395 km long. Notable tributaries include Kharkai, Kanchi, and Karkari. Features along the river include Hundru Falls and the Chandil Dam. It is named "streak of gold" due to traces of gold found near Piska and Nagri villages.
